Sustainability concept

has been a top priority at Paulchen since 1982!

Product

Since every product must be produced first and this takes up valuable resources, we pay attention to the particularly high quality of the individual components and high-quality production in order to ensure a long service life and the highest possible resilience.

But that is not enough for us!

Taking into account the fact that the average lifespan of a car in Germany is 10.1 years*, the long lifespan of the Paulchen would not achieve the desired added value.
That is why the idea was developed in the early 1980s that the Paulchen bicycle carrier should be convertible in the event of a vehicle change. This saves up to 85% of the components and is also easy on the wallet and the environment.

Delivery routes

Our suppliers are not only selected with great care under the criterion of high quality, but also under the aspect of transport routes. Almost all the components we use come from Germany and to a large extent from northern Germany. For example, our trailer hitch carriers are fitted by suppliers located within a 40 km radius. This saves Co2 during transport and supports regional producers.

Packaging

Our bike racks are shipped in packaging made from recycled and largely unprinted cardboard. To pad the boxes, we only use existing cardboard or foil that has already served its purpose through the delivery of goods, and new shipping material is made from the old shredded cardboard. In this way, there is hardly any waste in production and shipping, even if it is more time-consuming for us.

Disposal

If our bike rack should be disposed of, most of the parts are recyclable. So, we rely on as few plastic parts as possible, which in many cases end up in the incinerator. The majority consists of steel/aluminium/stainless steel and can therefore be melted down again. This results in new hardware products. So, we have a closed resource cycle. Correct disposal is of course important.

Product usage

Our product can also help to save CO2, for example, the journey to the office or to the city can be split up. Often the bike rides are too long and tiring, so half can be covered by car and half by bike if you can take the bike with you halfway. This not only saves fuel and protects the environment, but often also saves parking fees.

Property

In 2022 we planted two more apple trees in addition to our 32 trees. In this way we provide fresh oxygen in the middle of Hamburg and try to keep our footprint as small as possible.
