Despite its slim design, the Centre load carrier is extremely robust. High-strength galvanized and powder-coated steel, along with innovative tube constructions, ensure maximum load capacity. At the same time, the coating reliably protects the carrier from weather conditions. The carrier is pre-assembled once and can then be mounted without tools. Installation requires no drilling – simply hook it onto the tailgate.

There are various ways to transport a bicycle by car: in the boot, on a roof rack, or using a tow-bar mounted bike carrier rear-mounted carriers are a great alternative. Mounted on the tailgate, they offer a straightforward and flexible transport solution for bicycles and e-bikes.
A rear-mounted carrier is used to transport bikes and other cargo like skis, snowboards, or transport boxes. Paulchen’s centre load system attaches directly to the tailgate and can remain installed even when not in use, thanks to its practical fold-down design.
If your car doesn't have a tow bar, you can still transport bikes using a tailgate-mounted bike carrier. Our Paulchen rear-mounted carriers are modular and can even be reused with a different vehicle when youswitch cars.
For safety reasons, cars with a rear-mounted bike rack should not exceed a speed of 130 km/h. This recommendation also applies to tow-bar carriers and other bicycle transport systems.
The best bike carrier for you depends on your car and your transport needs. For cars without a tow bar, a tailgate-mounted carrier is ideal. Comfort load carriers are easier to load due to their lower height, while centre load carriers sit higher on the vehicle.

If you want to transport e-bikes by car, you need a suitable bike carrier. Our rear-mounted carriers have a maximum load capacity of up to 70 kg, depending on the vehicle model. This means you can carry 2–3 e-bikes. With practical extensions for the centre load carrier, you can also transport other loads, such as transport boxes, Skis or Snowboards.

Warning signs on bike carriers are mandatory in most European countries if the load extends more than one metre beyond the rear of the car. In Spain and Italy, a warning sign is required as soon as the load protrudes beyond the vehicle's rear lights. Warning panels are available from us. Since traffic regulations vary by country, it's advisable to inform yourself before starting your trip.
Whether additional lights are needed depends on whether the carrier and its load cover the vehicle's rear lights. If so, extra lights must be attached to the rear carrier. These are automatically included with your order if required for your selected vehicle model.

For bicycles, e-bikes, or children's bikes, the load on a rear-mounted carrier must not exceed certain dimensions. In Germany, the maximum allowed width of a vehicle loaded with bikes is 2.55 metres. Since regulations may differ in other countries, it’s important to check them before travelling.
